Marriage and Divorce Records
The County Clerk’s Marriage Licenses Department issues marriage licenses for all marriages performed in the county. The fee is $82.00, though couples who complete a certified marriage preparation course may qualify for a reduced rate. Both applicants must appear in person at the County Clerk’s office. There is a mandatory 72-hour waiting period after the license is issued, and the license expires after 90 days. Applications can be submitted online in advance, but both applicants must still visit the office within 3 days to finalize the license.
Divorce records are maintained by the District Clerk. For statewide marriage and divorce verification letters (for marriages since 1966), individuals may submit orders through the Texas Department of State Health Services vital statistics division.
Birth and Death Records
Birth and death certificates are confidential under Texas law and available only to the record subject, immediate family, or authorized individuals.
